Photography was invented to tell the truth. Through the use of scale, sequence, distortion, and elements of the natural world, “Leaving” is a photo series made up of miniatures that depicts a portrait of a home. An identity attached to these spaces is revealed, and then destroyed.
Influenced by the work of Lori Nix, this body of work takes the viewer both inside and outside of what represents a home. Domestic ideas are introduced as minimal still life photographs. Foliage and other natural forms overtake the space, thus the identity found within the home is transformed by what lives around it. Sequentially, spaces become busier, more inviting, yet more exclusive.
